Truly remarkable. HOW on earth do you learn to do
something like that. Your not allowed to just take
those things out and f u c k about with them. I reckon
at air shows they should have more displays of
firepower....do one of those flips then destroy a
target....that would look SHWEEET!

how does a jet use wing-tip vortex to divert thrust?
wing-tip vortex is a way to show how the jet reacts
when thrust is diverted or when a maneuver is made.
the thrust is vectored on a SU-37, and that diverts the
thrust to allow for the amazing aerobatics you see
here.
I'm Bob Barker, and I got paid to say this.
The Price is Wrong, bitch.

Idiots, those maneuvers exists for more then 20 years.
They are called the "Cobra" (first done bij
test-pilot Pugachev, to avoid incomming missiles) the
"Kulbit" and the "Bell".
All possible because of the thrust vector control.

The Americans shitted their pants when they saw things

Yeah guyz, it's a Suhkoi 37 (SU-37). It's a Russian
made jet that uses Thrust Vectoring. What that mean is
the jet nozzles can deflect the exhaust 40 degrees
vertically in either direction. That's what allows the
jet do perform most of those manuevers.
The technology isn't that new, it's just not used often
of fighter jets. I'm not sure when Russia began
experimenting with Thrust vectoring, but the U.S. began
in the early 90's. It was a NASA plane that had a
nozzle design that allowed complete directional control
over the exhaust stream. Ever seen a plane flying
forwards at almost full speed but facing directly up??
This one could do it.
The US has a plane comparable to the SU-37, it's the
F-22. The F-22 also uses Thrust Vectoring but it's
limited to 30 degrees positive and negative travel.
The designer's compromised on the F-22, they decided
that they could sacrifice some manueverability in the
name of a DRASTICALLY smaller radar signature. The
F-22 appears on radar about the same size as a SeaGull
where-as the SU-37 shows on radar as a full size plane.

Kubar is right. Thank god someone here knows what is
going on.
The Russians didn't invent thrust vectoring. The
Harrier was using vectored thrust long before any of
these jets came into existence.
The jet here also looks a lot like a MiG-35...which was
based on the MiG-29 Fulcrum's body frame.

Wingtip vortices slow down aircraft. ground effect
stops those vorices and thats why you get extra thrust.
Those little stabalisers on the end of the wings help,
but they only reduce drag, they have no effect on
manuverability. the manuverability is by reducing
stability and trowing the center of lift where you want
to go. thats it. no special vortices.
Also, the su-27 and 37 are in the ability range of the
f15, and f15 pilots admit that they cant train against
f22s because they cant do anything. the f22 just
appears, fires, and disappears, literally. The f22
cruises at mach 1.6 and the eagle fights at just over
mach 1, which means the f22 passes a patrolling f15 at
about mach 1. Thats fast enough to get outside the f15
pilots visibility in less than 30 seconds even if the
f15 is giving chase. Being a pilot, I can say that a
cessna would have a better chance surviving with the
f22 than a su27. If a cessna pulls just 3gs it can make
a 90 degree turn faster than a su27 at full 9g's.

fact of the matter is there is not a plane on the

Firstly, okay, impressive stuff.
Secondly, aside of crowd pleasing and world wide 15
minute infamy on sites such as this ... what is the
point of all of those tummy tickle moves that are being
displayed here?
Surely outright speed and some form of anti-heat
seeking nonsense is lord in the combat scenario for an
out and out fighter such as this?
Also, for the cessna guy ... how is this relevant?
It's like saying a 747 can carry more people, a
submarine can go under water, spiders can walk on the
ceiling ... but the SU-27 can't ... ah ha ... those
foolish SU-27 designers!! Eternal damnation to them
for not giving the plane 400 seats a periscope and 8
legs.

IS THE FIRST THING THEY TEACH YOU FOR A PRIVATE PILOT
LICENSE. every aircraft uses the same laws of physics.
I can make a 90 degree turn in my cessna in one second
at 85kts. the book says 140 degrees a second at 6 g's
and 100kts. the su-27 is limited to 13 per second
because its too fast. well, if you dont believe me,
look at the red bull plane. at 8.7g's it only turns 60
degrees a second because its going about 200mph.
compare that with this su-37. kicks the crap out of it.
