PETA is for limp-wristed little sissies who don't seem to understand that we are at the top of the food chain, and any creature in our domain is fair game.:D

They are RIGHT on the button with that woman who takes Insulin. Insulin was the first hormone identified (late 1920's) which won the doctor and medical student who discovered it the Nobel Prize (Banting and Best). They discovered insulin by tying a string around the pancreatic duct of several dogs. When they examined the pancreases of these dogs several weeks later, all of the pancreas digestive cells were gone (died and were absorbed by the immune system) and the only thing left was thousands of pancreatic islets. They then isolated the protein from these islets and behold, they discovered insulin. If it wasn't for the experiments on the dogs, Insulin wouldn't have been discovered - so, if that stupid b!tch IS really serious about taking a stand, she should refuse to take insulin because it was discovered through animal experiments. Of course, she'd die, but no animals would be harmed in her death. Naturally she won't, because she's a hypocrite like the rest of them. She'll probably say "Oh, that research has already been done, so me taking insulin wouldn't change anything" - to which the answer is BOLLOCKS! I bet if clinical trials were ongoing TODAY but the only way for insulin to be prescribed for humans was to test it on dogs, that woman would be first in the queue and wouldn't be going anywhere NEAR PETA.

fox hunting has been banned in the uk now so thats good news for the foxes at least, but it does mean that all the dogs are out of jobs...................................still we could get them back down the labs, back on the cigs. er.......hadnt really thought that one through.

PETA is bullshit but some stuff is so inhumane its hard to look at. My mother worked for Eli-Lilly for 20 or so years bfore she retired. she took me into the animal research lab when I was about 12 and I have never looked at animal research the same. It is a good thing to research but its still so sad. they have cages of beagels(50-100) with no voice boxes. its hard seeing rows and rows of Dogs who can't bark. I have benifited from the experiments but its hard to swallow when you see it in person.

I agree, that kind of thing is not nice and there'd have to be a DAMN good reason for that number of dogs to have had their voice boxes removed in order to justify such a thing, and if it can't be justified it should be stopped. PETA is a moderately good idea taken to completely stupid extremes. I'm all for animal sanctuaries and not experimenting for cosmetics reasons, but if it's me or an animal medical-wise I make no excuses or apologies for choosing me. It might be harsh, but at least I'm honest about it.

You all say not to feel guilty about eating meat because we are higher on the food chain. You are missing a huge part of the point. Intensive animal agriculture depletes valuable natural resources. Instead of being eaten by people, the vast majority of grain harvested in the U.S. is fed to farm animals. Something around 70%. This wasteful and inefficient practice has forced the exploitation of vast stretches of land. Forests, wetlands, and other natural ecosystems and wildlife habitats have been decimated and turned into crop and grazing land. Scarce fossil fuels, groundwater, and topsoil resources which took millenium to develop are now disappearing. The amount of waste produced by farm animals in the U.S. is more than 130 times greater than that produced by humans. Agricultural runoff has killed millions of fish, andis the MAIN reason why most of America's rivers and streams are impaired. Live near a hog farm? Your drinking water is most likely sontaminated with all kinds of viruses and bacteria from the runoff. So if you can't seem to find a reason to care about the welfare of animals then please consider the horrible impact of factory farms on the environment. Our consumption will pass on a heavy burden to our children. Oh and one comment on the animal testing situation. Animal research is faulty dangerous science. Companies manipulate data and pick and choose species to test on so they find one that won't react to their product. the FDA DOES NOT, i repeat DOES NOT require or advocate animal testing on products to determine safety for humans. I think we can all remember a product that has been ripped off the market once people started becoming ill or dying from after deemed "safe" with animal testing. Animals are not humans, we do not have the same make up. To assume something that is safe for an animal is safe for a human is dangerously wrong. Please do some research on animal testing both for cosmetic and household products and for medical r

The issue isn't the fact that we eat meat like other animals. We gorge ourselfs with it. We have a whole buildings and companies so that we can eat when and how much we want till we're huge. WE kill off all other animals that might possibly kill our food. example wolfs and other meet eaters for sheep and other livestock. We have to have everything to ourselfs and illiminate anythng in our way. maybe if we just ate to survive and considered ourself just another animal (which we are) we wouldn't be destroying the earth. i'm not a peta member or anything just realize that humanity is probably the worst thing that could of happened to this planet. hahahaha

You don't hold with the meat industry because we make it too easy to eat meat and gorge ourselves. We should only eat what we can go out an personally kill... right? OK, so by that reasoning we should also only be eating those fruits and vegitables that we personally grow too... no more grocery stores for you! Yeah? AND? Wolves, tigers, lions, do too... along with every other species on the planet!!! INCLUDING PLANTS!!! Protecting your food supply is a natural occurance. Living entities (plants included) are always, ALWAYS, going to grow until they exceed the resourses available to sustain them. It is a normal boom/bust cycle of natural population control- a function of evolution. Scientist refer to it as a "dieback", and have been predicting one for humanity for YEARS!
