I wonder. Did he gradually get to a point where he lost his awareness of danger around such animals? He wasn't an as.shole like the phuckers on Jackas.s or bungee jumpers; but swimming above and behind a stingray, what was the creature to think? Not a smart move and it was one I suspect was comitted due to complacency.

I love the one where his wife is driving the truck while he's hanging onto the side, she sideswipes a tree and knocks him off. Goes back after a while to find him when she realizes he is gone. She finds him and half his ear is torn off. He duct tapes it up and they keep filming. The guy was awesome. He'll never RIP, he was to full of life.

I'm sure that Steve probably felt completely safe playing around with that stingray... I mean there is only one other person on record known to have died in Australia from a stingray attack, at St Kilda, Melbourne in 1945... Unlike the hundreds that have died from venomous snakes and crocodiles that Steve handled on a daily bases ... I have read that stingrays only attack when they feel threatened... And we all know that Steve was very good at making a critter feel threatened... lol... I'm thinking they probably have this attack on film, but I doubt we will ever see it...
