Now what we have here is a retarded camera man , who can't understand the
birds love for a lil drum and Bass .

Actually the Woodpecker isn't trying to drill a hole, he purposely chose a
noisy surface for a mating call. It's the same reason why Woodpeckers will
hit aluminum siding, or roof gutters. Woodpeckers generall drill/drum away
for four separate reasons:

1. Noise Making/Drumming- For Mate Attraction.
2. Foraging Holes- To find bugs, and eat.
3. Part of their Foraging, they do exploratory taps to detect hollow
cavities, and listen for bug movement (similar to ground penetrating
radar).
4. Nest Holes- They drill a large cavity for shelter, and this is the
typical hole seen in a tree.
